Our Mission Statement
Mission Animal Clinic, P.A. exists to provide high quality, comprehensive veterinary care with an emphasis on exceptional patient care, client service, and client education. We strive to provide our patients with the best preventive, diagnostic, medical, and surgical care we can, while also offering the best possible client service and education to our clients at a fair and affordable cost.

Our Clinic Philosophy

Our Staff
Our veterinarians are graduates of the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine with combined practice experience of over 75 years. See below for a description of our staff members.

  • Russell W. Erickson, D.V.M.

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Erickson graduated from Kansas State University in 1979. After practicing in a mixed animal clinic in Bonner Springs, KS for six years, he came to Mission Animal Clinic and bought the practice in 1985. Dr. Erickson grew up in Mission and worked at Mission Animal Clinic as an animal caretaker and assistant during his college years. He is married and has one son; his wife and son have also worked at Mission Animal Clinic. During his free time, Dr. Erickson is an avid fisherman; he enjoys hiking and his pets. He is also an active member of the Shawnee Mission Rotary Club.

    Dr. Erickson is a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association (KCVMA), the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association (KVMA), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

    Dr. Erickson is currently on a medical leave of absence, but hopes to return to help care for your pets soon.

  • Todd A. Goodman, D.V.M.

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Goodman graduated from Kansas State University in 1990. Soon after, he joined Mission Animal Clinic in 1991 and has been a co-owner since 1993. Originally from Topeka, Kansas, Dr. Goodman is married and has four children. In his free time, Dr. Goodman likes to read history books.

    Dr. Goodman is a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association (KCVMA), the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association (KVMA), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

    Dr. Goodman is the Managing Veterinarian.

  • Jennifer L. Widmer, D.V.M

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Widmer joined our staff October 1, 2015.  She graduated from Kansas State University and practiced veterinary medicine for six years in San Antonio, Texas.  Dr. Widmer grew up in Olathe, Kansas.  She is married to a military veteran, has a great pyrenees, a dachshund, and two cats.  In her free time, she enjoys traveling, vegetable gardening, and cooking.

  • Carla C. Henne, DVM

    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Henne joined the Mission Animal Clinic healthcare team on March 27, 2017.  She is a graduate of Kansas State University, and her special interests are surgery, radiology, and dentistry.  Dr. Henne grew up in Olathe, Kansas.  She is married and has a baby boy.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing soccer, and spending time outdoors.

    Dr. Henne is a member of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association (KCVMA), the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association (KVMA), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

  • Adrienne M. Tang, DVM

        Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Tang joined the Mission Animal Clinic healthcare team in August, 2018.  She graduated from Ross University in 2011 and completed her clinical year at the University of Missouri.  Dr. Tang has a special interest in dentistry and behavior.  She plans to implement her "Fear Free handling" at Mission Animal Clinic.

    Dr. Tang has two dogs, three cats, three birds, and three aquariums.  In her free time, she enjoys creating naturalistic underwater aquascapes by using live plants and fish.  She also enjoys knitting, socializing birds at a local bird shelter, and reading/watching true crime books and documentaries.

    Julie  (Office Manager):
    1989 - Present (29 years)

    Julie has been a part of the Mission Animal Clinic family since 1985, and began officially helping out in 1989.  She assumed more roles through the years, to eventually managing the office for the doctors.  She enjoys spending time with her family, including her miniature schnauzer, Emmie, and lab, Maddie.  When time permits, Julie likes to write, read books, cook, and work in their flower garden at home.
  • Receptionist / Veterinary Assistant / Veterinary Technician


    Jennifer:  1991 - 1996/1998 - Present (25 years)

    Jennifer works as the "Jen of all Trades"  at Mission Animal Clinic and has been a part of the staff for 25 years.  She is primarily the lead receptionist, but frequently fills in as a vet assistant or any in other capacity she is needed within the clinic.  Jennifer has a Shih-tzu named Peanut (who is an honorary staff member) and a DSH named Pivot.  In her time away from the clinic, she enjoys cooking, fishing, and hanging out with friends. 


    Mary:   2009 - Present (9 years)

    Mary returned to the Mission Animal Clinic staff in 2009 as a part-time receptionist, though she helps out in several other capacities, including as a veterinary technician.  She has two dogs at home, Sophie and Zoe.  In her free time, Mary enjoys sewing, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.


    Sheryl:   2007 - Present (11 years)

    Sheryl joined the Mission Animal Clinic team in 2007 and works as a part-time receptionist.  She has been a member of the K.C. Golden Retriever Club for 30 years and greatly enjoys training and showing her Goldens.


    Rebecca:   2012 - Present (6 years)

    Rebecca returned to the Mission Animal Clinic team as a veterinary technician in 2012.  She has a sweet Golden Retreiver named Rocky and a fiesty cat named Ady.  In her time away from the clinic, Rebecca enjoys traveling and watching her two boys play soccer.


    Krystina:   2015 - Present (3 years)

    Krystina works as a veterinary technician and has been a part of the Mission Animal Clinic staff since 2015.  She has two dogs, Zeus and Tinkerbell.  In her time away from the clinic, Krystina likes to play volleyball and to spend quality time with her puppers.


    Rebeca:  2018

    Rebeca works as a customer service representative and joined the Mission Animal Clinic staff in 2018. She has two dogs and four cats. In her time away from the clinic Rebeca enjoys taking her dogs to the dog park, practicing yoga, and caffeine crawls.

    Zoe:  2017

    Zoe started working as a veterinary assistant in 2017.  She has a poodle mix named Emma at home.  In her spare time, Zoe loves to read and bake.
